A New Green Space on the Way!

A New Green. Hey there, Clive residents! Get ready for some big news—there’s a fantastic new recreation and festival area coming your way, and it’s going to be epic! Picture this: almost 15 acres of fun located on the east side of Northwest 114th Street, nestled between Walnut Creek and the Clive Aquatic Center.

Greenbelt Landing Approved!

Guess what? The Clive City Council recently gave the green light for the Greenbelt Landing project, and it’s going to be incredible. They’re jazzing up the existing special events building, expanding the pedestrian and bike trail, and adding awesome new features like an outdoor stage, wetland walkway, fishing pier, playground, and shaded area. Oh, and did I mention there’ll be space for food trucks too? How cool is that?

Loads of Upgrades!

But wait, there’s more! They’re also giving the special events building a makeover. Imagine kicking back on a cozy outdoor patio space with a crackling fireplace. Talk about setting the mood!

Funding and Timeline

Now, you might be wondering how they’re going to make all this happen. Well, it’s mostly funded by the city, with a whopping $6.6 million coming from Clive’s budget. The rest is covered by grants and donations, including generous contributions from organizations like Variety – The Children’s Charity and the Iowa Finance Authority.

According to the city, they’ve already locked in about $10 million for the project. Construction is slated to start in June this year and finish up by July 2025. And if things go smoothly, we could be breaking ground as early as May or June.

Exciting Features Ahead!

Here’s the best part—Greenbelt Landing will be ready just in time for the Clive Festival in 2025! Picture a space that can hold anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000 people, perfect for live music, food trucks, games, and more. It’s going to take the annual Clive Festival to a whole new level of awesome!

And that’s not all—there’s some eco-friendly stuff in the works too. The project includes water quality improvements like wetlands, stormwater detention ponds, and stream bank stabilization. Plus, there’ll be an ADA-accessible boardwalk and fishing pier, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the pond and Walnut Creek.

Better Water, Better Fun

According to Richard Brown, Clive’s leisure services director, all these water quality improvements will make a huge difference. A stormwater treatment wetland filled with native plants will help clean up the water runoff from the site, keeping things nice and pristine.

Get Ready to Have a Blast!

So, mark your calendars and get ready to have a blast at Greenbelt Landing. With all these fantastic features and upgrades, it’s going to be the hottest spot in Clive!
