Tourist and Immigration Visas – Mexico

As of November 9th, 2012 new Visa applications will have to be done at a Consulate in your home country. No more upgrading from an FMM (Tourist Card) to a resident Visa. Visa renewals remain pretty much the same. If you are applying for a renewal you can go directly to the Application Form and check the Conozco mi NUE box, enter your current visa number and the computer will fill in the form for you (mostly with ****).

Your new FM3/2 (No Immigrante or Immigrante) is now called Residente Temporal and Residente Permanente and will be a laminated card rather than a booklet. The cost of the Visa has gone up considerably but multi-year visa are available reducing the cost per year. Income requirements have also increased from about $1300us a month to over $1900. In Manzanillo all that is needed is a copy of first passport page, fotos and the old visa. Income not required for renewals.

Online Auto Permit Application Note: All new auto permits will require a cash deposit or charge to your credit card – refundable on return.
