John and I drove up the valley beside the Marabasco River looking for the new dam that's now under construction.  I first heard of this over two years ago from a guy in Cihuatlan but the access road was not yet built.  Recently I ran into an article and fotos in "Sur de Jalisco".  The road has been improved all the way up with evidence of heavy use.  The last 4-5 miles is new and created for the dam.

This is really a massive project and a wide angle lens would have shown it better.   We were told they'll be working on this for 4 years.  We figure the dam will be a 'solid wall' and the spillway-outlet will come out behind the hill on the north side.  The spillway project is almost as large as the dam so look for both.  We went up on a Sunday and may have missed weekday traffic - just a warning !!
